WordPress 6.7.1 Release Scheduled For Bug Fixing in WordPress 6.7 “Rollins”

WordPress contributors, after closely analyzing the reports regarding bugs in WordPress 6.7, are all set to release WordPress 6.7.1 on Thursday to fix the issue arisen in version 6.7. 

After WordPress 6.7 “Rollins” release, WordPress contributors are all set to release WordPress 6.7.1. The release of WordPress 6.7.1 is scheduled for 21st November 2024. WordPress 6.7 was released on 12th November 2024.  

Missing translations for strings: When using the site in languages other than English, some translations for strings (not your content, only theme and plugin strings) may be displayed in English.

We expect a fix in WordPress 6.7.1. ETA: Thursday 21.11. evening GMT.

Purpose of releasing WordPress 6.7.1  

In the latest WordPress update news, WordPress 6.7.1 will be released to fix the bugs in WordPress 6.7. After the release of version 6.7, WordPress contributors are receiving reports on WordPress.org support forums, Tracs and Gutenberg repository on GitHub. Most of the reports described a small set of issues that needed to be fixed.

Who will lead the release? 

This release will be lead by Jonathan Desrosiers, senior software engineer, and Carlos Bravo, WordPress 6.1 core editor. 

Jonathan Desrosiers described in his article, “WordPress 6.7.1 will be targeted for release on Thursday, November 21, 2024, with a very specific focus of only fixing bugs there were introduced in the 6.7 release. The goal is to deliver a small handful of high-impact bug fixes for added stability prior to the busy online commerce holiday week consisting of Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Giving Tuesday.” 

Which bugs will WordPress 6.7.1 fix? 

The targeted bugs that need to be fixed in WordPress 6.7 are divided into three categories – High priority bugs, less problematic and minor bugs. 

High priority Bugs: 

  • sizes=auto causing images to show smaller than they should  
  • Translations not being applied properly  
  • Patterns without categories break the editor when browsing uncategorized patterns 
  • Zoom in doesn’t focus on the right area of the screen based on selected item  
  • Zoom out button goes missing when plugins register toolbar items  

Less problematic: 

  • Using the Upload button in image-based blocks in Safari unexpectedly converts images to HEIC with a temporary file name 
  • Category management in the Classic Editor is broken  
  • CSS targets changed on the login screen affecting custom logos 

Minor bugs 

  • Horizontal scroll bar in the Customizer  
  • Undefined key warning in wp_salt() 
  • Untranslatable strings in nav-menu.js
