Microsoft Has Released The Windows 11, 2022 Update: Features and Download Instructions
Microsoft recently released the 2022 update for Windows 11 users, the first significant system upgrade since the new operating system’s release last year. Instead of the 22H2 upgrade, which is the company’s typical naming method, we got the relatively simpler ‘Windows 11 2022 Update.’
Microsoft confirms that the update has been rolled out in 190 countries, including India, and advises customers to check for it on their Windows 11 laptop or desktop by going to Settings > System > Windows update. It should be noted that not all users will receive the update at the same time, with some receiving it in the coming weeks.
Windows 11 2022 update: What’s new?
Windows 11 receives several UI changes as part of the release. More layouts and grids are included in the Windows snap function, which allows you to multitask effectively by automatically stacking numerous windows on your screen’s corners.
Microsoft is also bringing Amazon Appstore Preview to the worldwide market, allowing Windows 11 customers in many more locations to access over 20,000 Android apps. Improved accessibility features include a new system-wide live-captioning capability that allows users to produce captions from any audio source on their machines.
With the upgrade, Microsoft has also improved gesture functionality, allowing tablet and 2-in-1 device users to effortlessly navigate the operating system. There’s also a new Xbox controller bar for players, giving them additional control over their controllers.
Voice Access allows users to operate their computers using their voices, and Microsoft has introduced more voices to its Narrator. Meanwhile, new do not disturb options include a dedicated DND button in the notification panel.
Smart App Control, which prevents scripting attacks and prevents untrusted apps from launching, is one of the new security enhancements in the update. However, this feature will require a clean install since Microsoft wants to guarantee there are no untrusted apps operating on the device currently.
Microsoft also announced that an upgrade to the Photographs app will be available next month, with a new picture management UI, a gallery, improved browsing, and the option to instantly back up photos to OneDrive cloud storage. Next month, the taskbar will also get a new overflow menu.
