Proofpoint to Set Up a Data Center in Singapore to Conquer Cyber Threats
Proofpoint is all set to establish its data center in Singapore in 2025 to address the increased human-centric cyber threat.
On the opening day of GovWare 2024, American enterprise cybersecurity company Proofpoint Inc. announced the establishment of a new data center in Singapore in 2025. Proofpoint Inc. is a leading cybersecurity and compliance company that protects organizations’ greatest assets and biggest threats: their people.
This center will enable customers to comply with data residency policies in Singapore. It is set to be Proofpoint’s 28th data center globally. Following the Australian data center launch in 2023, this launch will highlight Proofpoint’s investment in the Asia Pacific region. Since 2010, when it established Singapore as its regional headquarters for the Asia Pacific region, Proofpoint has increased its local presence by hiring around 70 new employees.
Proofpoint’s forthcoming data center in Singapore will help the organization manage the risk of human-centric cyber threats. Proofpoint Threat Protection is the only AI/ML-powered platform that deals with current advanced attacks, such as email fraud, ransomware, weaponized URLs, and other forms of social engineering.
As Proofpoint’s 2024 Voice of the CISO Report reveals, more than two-thirds (64%) of CISOs in Singapore feel prepared to cope with a cyberattack, an increase from 45% last year. In addition, while human error remains the top concern for CISOs, with 67% citing this as their most significant vulnerability, a majority (86%) are looking to deploy AI-powered capabilities to help protect against human error and advanced human-centered cyber threats.
“As Singapore confronts an increasingly complex threat landscape driven by cloud adoption, remote work, and rapid digitalization, our primary focus is providing human-centric cybersecurity solutions. With the surge in data generation and the tightening of data residency regulations, protecting sensitive information has never been more crucial.
As cyberattacks become more sophisticated, businesses must adopt multi-layered, cloud-native security to protect people and data from emerging threats while ensuring that information remains securely within the country.” said George Lee, Senior Vice President of Asia Pacific & Japan at Proofpoint.
