Hackers Breach Kiwi Farms’ website, Which Is Known For Anti-Trans Efforts In The United States
After being blocked by internet infrastructure provider Cloudflare because of possibly violent statements, the internet forum Kiwi Farms was working to come back online on Monday.
The online forum, known for being a hub for organizing harassment campaigns, particularly against women and members of the LGBTQ community, confirmed the hack in a blog post, warning users to assume their passwords and email addresses had been taken.
“The forum was hacked,” Kiwi Farms said in a post updated on Monday. “I need to reformat and reinstall everything. I need to completely evaluate my security from the top down.”
Cloudflare has protected Kiwi Farms from hacks like the one that breached its system, according to the online forum’s post.
Early this month, Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince said that the business has stopped Kiwi Farms content from being accessed using its infrastructure, which provides web hosting services and cyber protection.
“This is an extraordinary decision for us to make, and given Cloudflare’s role as an internet infrastructure provider, it is a risk that we are not comfortable with,” Prince said in an online post.
“However, the rhetoric on the Kiwi farms website, as well as specific, targeted threats, have escalated over the last 48 hours to the point where we believe there is an unprecedented emergency and immediate threat to human life, unlike anything we have previously seen from Kiwi farms or any other customer.“
