Fortinet partners with Temasek Polytechnic for cybersecurity training
Temasek Polytechnic (TP) and Fortinet have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to incorporate Fortinet’s widely accepted cybersecurity training and certification programs into the polytechnic’s existing curriculum.
The goal of this collaboration is to develop competent talent that will satisfy Singapore’s increasing need for cybersecurity experts.
Temasek Polytechnic’s Senior Director, Chief Information Officer, and Chief Data Officer, Dr. Eng Pin Kwang, emphasized the institution’s dedication to matching its course offerings with business demands. “Our collaboration with Fortinet is evidence of our dedication to offering training that satisfies the needs of the modern workforce and keeping our personnel abreast of industry developments.
With this partnership, we hope to equip our students with the know-how and abilities needed to successfully traverse an increasingly digital environment and make a major contribution to the development of cyber resilience in Singapore and elsewhere, according to Kwang.
The partnership is an element of Fortinet’s ongoing endeavors to tackle the notable deficiency of cybersecurity experts in the labor market. Vishak Raman, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Fortinet, states that “having a strong cybersecurity talent pipeline is more important than ever.”
Our goal is to give students access to our industry-recognized training and certification programs so they may gain the skills and certifications they need to succeed as cybersecurity professionals in the ever-worsening cyber landscape. This collaboration demonstrates our dedication to helping Singapore cultivate the skilled workforce required to improve businesses’ ability to fend off cyberattacks and build the country’s digital resilience.
The creation of an Operational Technology Security Laboratory is another item on the MOU. This facility will work as a testing ground for collaborative initiatives with an emphasis on research and teaching, offering real-world settings in which academics and students can experiment and come up with new ideas.
87% of organizational leaders said their organizations have experienced one or more security breaches, according to the 2024 Global Cybersecurity Skills Gap Report. Of those, 72% of leaders reported having trouble locating applicants with the appropriate technology-focused qualifications, and 70% of them partly blamed the mishaps on a lack of cybersecurity expertise. The goal of the collaboration between TP and Fortinet is to close this skills gap by turning forth graduates who are capable of meeting industry demands.
